Our Danceathon!

Last weekend was the Kit and Kaboodal 24-Hour Danceathon for Cancer Research UK! It was a huge success and a massively challenging event for all who took part. Helen, Angela, Laura and Molly danced for the full 24 hours with John staying up all night long to provide plenty of cups of tea and run the bar and donations tables. We themed the music for every hour so we danced to 80’s hits, movie classics and Motown tunes. We live streamed the whole event on our Facebook page so people could watch us dancing and join in the event even from affar!

The music kept us going through the hours as well as plently of snacks, muscle cream and of course all the great customers and friends who came along to support our efforts! Thank you to everyone who supported and motivated us, from friends who brought cakes, family who turned up in the early hours when they saw us struggling and colleagues who stayed to dance and came back again at 5am to get us over the finishing line – you really kept us going!

At the event we had a massive raffle table where all the gifts were donated by local companies and friends. Thank you to everyone for your contributions which helped us raise so much towards Helen and John’s Kilimanjaro challenge for Cancer Research UK:

We have to admit the challenge was harder than anticipated and as the tiredness hit in the early hours we battled our way through motion sickness and swelling feet to reach the finish line! But we made it through the challenge and now have the sore feet to prove it! We calculated our steps and the team did around 130,000 steps each during the event, which works out at 55 miles – more than two marathons  – no wonder we were tired by the end! Emotional and sleepy, we all headed home for an epsom salt bath soak, a big sleep and a Sunday roast. Feeling fresher on Monday morning, we started to calculate how much we – YOU – raised and we were in complete shock to discover…

Together we have all exceeded all expectations and we are so grateful to everyone who dug deep and donated. We can’t explain how much we appreciate it – your support made all our hard work worthwhile! We will be continuing our fundraising mission until Sepetember when Helen and John climb Killimanjaro for Cancer Reasearch. Our aim is to raise £10,000 so we are nearly halfway now! If you missed the event or want to donate now please click here to support our team.

Thanks again for all your support – but it might be a while before we hit the disco!
